ABOUT US

The South London Scout Centre was built in 1989 and is located in Lambeth. Known to the local community as The Fort, it is managed by a team of eight volunteers, including one full-time warden.

One of South London's hidden treasures, and just 15 minutes from Central London, The Fort is a valued community resource, used by around 20,000 people a year for a variety of group activities.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

The Centre is the main hub for South & South East London Scouts, representing over 10,000 young people across multiple boroughs. Weekly scouting activities empower children and young people to learn new skills, from teamwork to leadership and resilience. It encourages them to make new friends and stand on their own two feet, shaping their lives for the better, focussing especially on reaching young people from minority and disadvantages backgrounds. Girl guides also hire out the Centre for events and learning sessions.

FAMILIES

The Fort is one of the closest campsites to Central London, which makes it such an easy place to expeirence camping for youth clubs, DofE award groups, Scouts from around the World, Guides and Families looking for adventure. We host around 500 families a year who bring their tents and pitch at the campsite.

PROJECT NEEDS

Despite ongoing maintenance, some parts of our buildings are beyond repair and need replacing. From rotting roof tiles creating water leaks, to rebuilding certain structures, to providing additional facilities to the campers, we need to raise a total of £1,000,000 to create a site that is fit for purpose. Something that our volunteers and visitors alike can all be proud of.
